ASC Update: January 27th
We are getting there, but not quickly enough.
Snow conditions have improved.
Watch the ITG for the latest trail openings in the area.
We are hoping to open parts of the D101B, part of 77, all of 74S and Oxtongue Lake for this weekend.
The lakes remain a big problem.
We have only been able to stake Oxtongue Lake, possibly Dotty Lake this afternoon.
Penn Lake only has 3″ of ice in spots.
Lake of Bays is also too thin and there is open water at Dorset.
The 7 day forecast is for some cold weather so that should help.
BUT we had another unexpected setback.
A major repair was done to our new groomer on Jan 20.
On Jan 21 it had another major breakdown.
Thank you to Ken C for dragging it out of the bush for us.
It is currently at the Cummins dealer having the motor removed.
The OFSC has been scrambling to get us a spare machine.
We are hoping to get something next week.
Thank you to our neighbouring clubs, Tall Pines and Highland Rovers, for their assistance with some of our trails.
Poker Run Update:
We want to put on a fun and safe event, but with the above conditions we can not guarantee that by Feb 4.
For this reason, we regret that the Poker Run will have to be postponed until Sat. Feb 18/23.
Conditions should be much better by then.
For those who have already registered and are now unable to attend, you will still be dealt a poker hand, so your chances of winning have not changed.
Linda, at The Lake Of Bays Garden Centre, has again graciously offered to host the event.
Sorry to everyone for the inconvenience.
